World Eating Disorders Action Day began in 2015 as a global, collaborative initiative created by a group of parents, caregivers, advocates, and people with lived experience who recognized a critical need: the world required greater unity in eating disorders advocacy, stronger alignment with science, and more accessible, evidence-based information.
What began as a shared conversation among a small group of committed individuals quickly grew into an international movement. These early cofounders came together through a belief that fragmented efforts across countries could be strengthened through global coordination and shared purpose.
Today, World Eating Disorder’s Action Day is a worldwide day of action held annually on June 2, engaging communities across continents and bringing together diverse voices—people with lived experience, families, clinicians, researchers, and organizations—to advance awareness, reduce stigma, and promote early intervention and evidence-based care.
