Rouhana El Hage

As a Lebanese man, a reminder: eating disorders don’t discriminate….by gender or nationality. Healing is a process, scientifically proven and achievable. It doesn’t take a day off. For me, moderation is key.

Founder & Director, Rabbits in Submarines Collective

Jeannie Park

Rabbits in Submarines Collective is a lived expertise-based non-profit and currently the
only organization dedicated to eating disorders in South Korea. Since 2023, we have also been the sole host of Korea’s Eating Disorders Awareness Week, held annually during the last week of February.
I am deeply grateful to join World Eating Disorders Action Day again this year, following our first participation last year. World Eating Disorders Action Day again offers us a rare and inspiring opportunity to raise our voices in harmony with like-minded people across the world, as if singing together in a global choir. In South Korea, where a proper eating disorder treatment system and dedicated public
policies have yet to be established, World Eating Disorders Action Day again gives me warmth, courage, and strength to
keep going.

Psychologist, Eating Disorder Recovery Advocate – Il Bucaneve odv, Italy

World Eating Disorders Action Day reminds us of the importance of listening with empathy and without prejudice. When people feel truly heard and understood, they are more likely to reach out for help, creating a sense of hope and recovery that can grow through support and compassion. In my country, this day helps open up conversations about mental health and encourages people to speak more openly and seek support. Every story is unique and deserves to be heard, not criticised. Hope grows in understanding.

Participating in World Eating Disorders Action Day gave me the courage to speak out against stigma and help other young people in my community.

Clinical Psychologist, Arab Eating Disorders Association (AEDA)

Dr. Carine el Khazen Hadati

As the founder of AEDA and a longstanding voice in advancing eating disorder care in the Middle East for over two decades, World Eating Disorders Action Day is a powerful moment of global, cross-cultural alignment. Its collective efforts actively contribute to our mission — strengthening awareness, access to evidence-based, culturally sensitive care, and reinforcing my ongoing commitment to driving this field forward in the region.

Dietician, Clinical Psychologist, Arab Eating Disorders Association (AEDA)

Carina Khoury Ghossoub

As a dietitian specialized in eating disorders in the UAE, working within a multidisciplinary team, I’ve seen how often eating disorders go unseen, misunderstood, or minimized. World Eating Disorders Action Day means a lot to me because it reminds us that awareness truly can save lives.

Through my clinical work and my role as a board member of the Arab Eating Disorders Association, especially while helping lead our social media advocacy, I’ve witnessed the power of education, community, and culturally sensitive conversations in reducing stigma and helping people feel less alone.

For me, this day is not only about raising awareness.
It is about amplifying voices from our region, promoting access to evidence-based care, and reminding people that recovery is possible and that everyone deserves support, at any stage of their journey.

Umberto Nizzoli

Dr Umberto Nizzoli is the founder of the Italian version of World Eating Disorders Action Day. “From the energy of WEDAD, Forum 15.3&2.6 was born in Italy. Same values, same mission with more than 40 family associations and professional societies spread knowledge and rights on EDs throughout the year.” In his words, “Everyone needs respect and love.”

Platforms like World Eating Disorders Action are essential because they amplify accurate, evidence-based information in a space often crowded with misinformation about food, weight, and recovery. They help shift the narrative from stigma and silence to understanding. For clinicians, they create an opportunity to advocate for treatments that are grounded in research, while also validating the lived experiences of those affected. Ultimately, they bridge the gap between science and the public, making recovery more visible, more supported, and more attainable. At its core, this platform is about reminding people that healing is possible with compassion, connection, and the right support.

Too many people are still unseen and without care in time. Eating disorders are real, serious illnesses—and recovery is possible. World Eating Disorders Action Day is about making that possible for everyone.
