Whether through personal experience or someone we know and love\, one in two of us will encounter the impact of an eating disorder at some point in our lives. Yet anorexia remains widely misunderstood despite being a preventable\, treatable\, and recoverable illness. \nThrough art\, lived experience\, science\, and education\, this project promotes early recognition\, informed support\, and timely action for recovery. By understanding that anorexia is not a choice but a biological illness that can be triggered by weight loss in genetically vulnerable individuals\, we can recognize the signs earlier and support prompt weight restoration\, the critical first step in reversing the effects of starvation and breaking the cycle that keeps the illness going. \nBecause knowledge can save lives. One day\, the question “Why me?” may become “How can I help?” and that knowledge may help someone receive life-saving support when it matters most. \nThe word hidden reflects how anorexia still remains an elephant-in-the-room topic. Many of its symptoms are commonly mistaken for personality traits\, such as obsessiveness and controlling\, when they are often consequences of starvation itself. \nThe word patchwork reflects how recovery is often pieced together over time through repeated efforts\, setbacks\, and progress while healing layers of shame and guilt. It also represents the challenge of reversing a powerful biological cycle that can persist even during extreme starvation. Anorexia is not a matter of coping or choice; it is a physical survival response that becomes self-sustaining until it is reversed.
